Watercraft Directions

Before you arrive by boat, please check our watercraft guidelines below

Traveling from West Arm into Seton Channel

- This is a NO-WAKE zone, so you must travel as slow as possible.

- When traveling through Seton Channel, there must be a safe distance between you and another boat. A good rule of thumb is 100 feet of space between boats.

- When traveling under the Seton Channel bridge, be aware of fishing boats that may clog the area. If you encounter a boat heading in your direction, make sure to keep to the right as you approach one another.

- Once you’ve passed under the bridge, you will be able to spot the four transient slips, which will be about 500 feet away and on the East, (left) side of the channel. If you see any of the four green Back Channel flags flying high, that means that there is a spot open and you can anticipate entering a slip.

- As you get closer our slips, you will want to locate one of our dock attendants, who will be standing on the end of the dock. Simply wave your hand to notify the dock attendant that you would like to swing your boat in. If there is oncoming boat traffic, you cannot stop and wait for traffic to pass by, or you may get pulled over for impeding traffic through the channel. Instead, continue to travel into Seton Lake and make your loop in the wider area of the lake.

- If another boat is attempting to dock into one of our slips, you must allow that boat to dock before you. You are not allowed to cut in front of another boat, as that may cause congestion in the channel.

- If you approach the transient docks, and there are no flags flying high, that means that all the spots are taken and you must continue to travel into the Seton Lake area. If you still desire to dock your boat at Back Channel, you can wait in the Seton Lake area until a slip opens up. Please be mindful of any other boat
that may be waiting in the area, as you may have to wait your turn for a slip to open up.

Traveling from Black Lake

- Once you’ve passed through Black Lake, you will enter a channel that will take you past Presbyterian Homes & Park Island Apartments. This is a NO-WAKE  zone, so please travel slowly. As you approach the Seton Lake area, you will start to turn to the right, and head towards Seton Channel where you will see Back Channel Marina on the right.

- As you’re heading North, towards the channel and marina, you will be able to spot our four slips. If any of the four flags are flying high, please signal to the dock attendant that you plan to dock your boat. After signaling, simply veer your boat slightly to the right, and enter an open slip.

- If you notice that there are no flags flying high, that means there are no open spots. If there are no open spots, you must wait in the Seton Lake area for one to open up, or you must continue traveling North through Seton Channel. You are not allowed to stop and wait in the channel for a slip to open up, as you may get pulled over for impeding traffic in the channel.

Traveling from Cooks Bay into Emerald Lake

- As you enter Emerald Lake from Cooks Bay, you will continue to travel North into Seton Lake, where you will be able to spot Back Channel Marina off in the distance on the East, (right), side of the channel. This is a NO-WAKE zone, so please operate your boat slowly through this area.

- If any of the four flags are flying high, please signal to the dock attendant that you plan to dock your boat.

Watercraft Guidelines

ARRIVING BY BOAT

Please read the following guidelines before navigating to Back Channel Brewing by boat for the first time. For those arriving by SUP, kayak, canoe, or any other non-motorized watercraft, we have additional guidelines below.

  • All boats must be less than 34 feet in length overall (including bow pulpits, swim platforms, etc.), and less than 10 feet wide (10' beam). Boats larger than this will not fit our slips.

  • We reserve the right to refuse service to intoxicated boaters.

  • Please be respectful of music volume while docking at Back Channel Marina.

  • LMCD boating rules must be followed when navigating the area.

ARRIVING BY SUP, KAYAK, CANOE, OR OTHER NON-MOTORIZED WATERCRAFT

  • You may only access our docks, if one of our four transient slips is open.

  • Do not attempt to access the marina by land, or through any of the private slips.

  • If a transient slip is open, our dock attendant will help guide you to the correct landing spot. Once you are pulled into an open slip, be prepared to lift your watercraft out of the water, and carry it to land. We will have a designated spot for storage of all non-motorized watercraft.

  • Once your non-motorized watercraft is stored on land, you will be responsible for monitoring it. Consider it the same scenario if you arrived to the brewery by bicycle.
